Fortune Cookie Weirdness

Trey found this gem of a fortune in his fortune cookie last month. I had to take a picture of it before I threw it away. It's been on the magnet board for a month. Best fortune cookie "fortune" in my book.
Speaking of, have you noticed that half of the fortunes you get are not fortunes at all (like this one)?
Also I'm curious, has anyone received a weirder fortune than this one?

8 months and 4 teeth later...

Yeah, that's no type-o, four teeth! Her top two have been making their way through this past week. When they get a little more visible I will most definitely get a picture and post it. I get the giggles everytime I see them because they are very reminiscent of Spongebob teeth. Immediately the Spongebob theme song pops in my head too and I usually start singing it to Luce. I can't wait 'til those babies really come in. She's going to have an awesome smile.

Sorry to blind you all with my glorious white arms, but I had to show you Lucy's favorite place to be these days. She'll bounce up and down like she's bull riding and get the biggest, goofiest grin on her face. I usually get in front of a mirror so I can watch her.

She refused to lean back in her bouncer so she sat like this. I thought it was funny.

Yay for highchairs! Our neighbors are so awesome for letting us borrow their baby stuff. Thanks again Jen & Nate! :)

She loves her little snacks.

She's drinking out of a sippy cup...sort of. She mostly just chews on the spout and shakes it because it makes a fun noise.

Luce & Mom being sillies

This is what she's doing these days. I think she just might skip the whole crawling thing and go straight to walking. She loves standing up and walking with Mom & Dad's help.

Here she is in crawling stance. I swear she is just messing with us. She'll get up like that and rock back and forth a few times and then plop back on her belly. I'm fine with her taking her sweet old time because once she crawls I'm pretty sure I will be chasing her around for the rest of my days. That girl has A LOT of energy.

What was that? You got a problem with my crew cut?

She was just chillin like this with one leg resting on the coffee table.

We stopped swaddling her in December and she loves the freedom. She usually sleeps on her back with her arms straight out in T formation. There really is nothing more peaceful than a sleeping baby. She always has to sleep with her pink giraffe.

This is just to show you that our once teeny tiny weeblit is not so teeny tiny anymore. I love her little rolls.

Love that buddha belly too.

Cheese!

Lucy and Mom photoshoots are a regular activity at our house. They are too fun. This girl comes up with some pretty funny faces...

...like this one! Ha ha! Is that a little Trey or what?!

I just love this outfit on her. Thanks Grandma Brenchley!
I just love that little face.
Our little 8-month-old Lucy has been talking up a storm. She's says "mama" and "dada" a lot, she's also added "baba" and "tata" and "nana". She gives great big open mouth kisses. She loves to impersonate Chewy from Star Wars. She still pants like a puppy. She can combat roll & scoot backwards like it's nobody's business. She loves when we hold her upside down. She pulls the funniest faces. She loves staring down all the sweet old ladies at the store when they try to get her to smile. It's pretty funny. Also, the girl loves her food! How could she not with Trey and me as parents? I would definitely say her favorite is still bananas. The end.

Ouch!

It's true, I've officially been bitten by the crafty bug. Here is the my list of hopeful projects for the next year:
  1. Taggie blanky for Lu
  2. Changing pads (our cute owl ones got destroyed in the wash. oopsies.)
  3. Beanies - which means I probably need to learn how to knit first :)
  4. Crochet flowers - to put on the beanies
  5. Baby booties
  6. Sock monkey & other cute stuffed things
  7. Owl hats for Etsy
  8. Painting more things for our walls
I'm happy to announce that I just finished #1 & #2 yesterday, just in time for Lucy's 8 month birthday! Wahoo!! They turned out cuter than I thought, although don't look too close, I'm still working on the whole sewing straight concept. :)

changing pad w/clear vinyl over the material

The taggie. I love love LOVE the butterfly fabric. Thank you Alexander Henry.

Lucy is all about the tags on everything so she had a hay day when I gave this blanket to her.

I'm hoping that because I have all my projects written down on the blarg that I will be more accountable for them and actually start and FINISH them.

My sissy-in-law Lolo sent me this awesome book on all these fun ditties you can make with felt...and the best part is no sewing machine is needed! This is great because I'm currently sewing machine-less.
Ya know what's funny? I haven't been interested in sewing until now. All of a sudden I've been craving a sewing machine...maybe it's something that just happens when you reach motherhood. I just have the urge to sew...strange? I think so.

Just so you know...

My heart hurts to see you go dearest Conan. You can read about what exactly went down here. I really enjoyed his personal statement.
Tis a sad day in the history of late night television. Smooth move NBC! Hopefully his comedy will live on via another network...a much cooler, more deserving network.
The Banburys love you Coco!

Silly Lu Girl

We just love our little Lucy to pieces and she is getting more and more fun everyday. I thought I would share some fun things about her today and of course more pictures! Here are her 6 month stats, even though she is currently 7 months old. When we took her in for her appointment she had jumped from being in the 50th percentile to the 75th percentile for all her measurements! She was 26.5 inches long and 17.4 lbs! Yowza girl! She's definitely filled out in the past few months. I just love munching on her chubby little legs and buddha belly. She doesn't really have a chubby face but her double chin does come out to play on occasion, as shown in the picture below.

Her hair is filling in a little more too. It's still very peach fuzzy but there is more fuzz to play with! I love rubbing my chin across it when she's sitting on my lap. She had her first hair cut last week! And when I say hair I literally mean 1 single hair. She had one freakishly long strand that had to be trimmed.

Her favorite things to play with/put in her mouth lately is anything paper, plastic, metal (ick!), zippers, and the drawstrings on hoodies. Whenever she is rolling around on the floor playing with all her stuffed toys, the first thing she'll go for is the tag.

Here she is chewing on the metal handle to the toaster oven

Goin' for the tag

You can kind of see her chubby belly & legs here. She's practicing her yoga moves.

She loves giving kisses. They are slobbery and open-mouthed. She'll give them to mom and dad, her stuffed animals and doll, and herself (the mirror).

Here she is going in for a kiss...
Her doll came with a binky which Lucy likes to steal and put in her own mouth.

Our friend Kate gave Lucy an Uglydoll for Christmas, isn't he awesome? His name is Poe. Lu loves to chew on his horns.

She still has her pretty blues.

She's loving her food these days. She's eating all sorts of food. Still loves the bananas the best. I fed her the Gerber macaroni and cheese dinner a few nights ago and she didn't know what to think about it. It smelled awful! Now when I go to the store I try to get the weird stuff just to see Lucy's face. Haha, I'm such a mean mom. I've learned that I can mix something she doesn't like with bananas and she'll dig on it.

We still feed her in her bebe pod chair but it's about time to get a high chair. I keep checking Craigs List because high chairs are so expensive these days! What's up with baby stuff being so expensive?? I would really like to know!

Luce is a lover of rolling, looking out the window, looking in the mirror, going for rides on mom's and dad's shoulders, and talking. She's says dadadada and mamamama and kind of mixes it up sometimes too. She loves jibberjabbering when we start talking. She definitely wants to be in on the conversations. She can get quite vocal. :)

We've been experimenting with things that make her laugh. It's quite entertaining. Trey has this little voice he talks to her in and she gets a crack out of it. She has this high pitched squeal that comes out when her and daddy wrestle. It's pretty darn cute. I'll have to post a video of it sometime.

We finally got to the point where we just lay her down and she goes to sleep! It's soooo nice! No more rocking her for like 20 minutes until she goes to sleep, yay! She's our good little napper/sleeper.

So there you have it. That's our Lucy in a nutshell as of late. She's our little ball of energy and fun.

Another one of those?!

That's right! It's time for another "year in review" post. I know you've been highly anticipating it. I just read my highlight posts from my 24th & 23rd years. It was kinda fun. I can't believe a year ago my Lucy goose was the size of a mango and still in my womb! I also can't believe my 25th year is coming to an end! How do I make this getting older thing stop?
Actually, I've decided I'm okay with getting old and wrinkly, as long as I still feel young inside.

Alrighty, here is my list:
  • On my birthday, we found our Lucy mango was a GIRL! We were both SOOO surprised. It was the best birthday surprise ever.

  • Oil painting class! I'm one step closer to my dream of painting all the art in our home, yay!

  • Crazy craft nights with the Fraziers. We created some rockin' concrete light bulb wall hooks, coasters, light switch covers, and oven mitt dragons!

  • After 5 interviews and 3 acceptance letters, we decided on Penn State. Hooray for no more med school application nonsense!
  • Reupholstered something (a rocker glider for Lucy's room) for my first time ever. Thanks to my dearest Traci, it turned out pretty darn cute.

  • Fish Lake with the Banbury Fam in Feb. Broomstick hockey out on the frozen-over lake rocked my world, as much as it could for being great with child. I was the goalie which was the safest position. I also ice fished for my first time.

  • Huzbee and I went on an adventure with the Fraziers to Moab & Goblin Valley. We camped and hiked around and saw the beautiful sites. Oh and did I mention I was 7 months prego? My favorite thing was the delicate arch. Pictures just can't capture the majesty of it. It's one thing I think everyone needs to see in person.

  • Goodbye to Icon! It was a bittersweet experience. I may or may not have cried when I started driving home...I blamed it on the pregnancy hormones. But seriously, I left some of the best coworkers ever. And I do miss communicating with the Chinese vendors. They were a treat.

  • Birthed my LUCY! This was definitely the highlight of my year. I'm not gonna lie, childbirth was hard work but truly an amazing experience. The end result makes it totally worth it.

  • Found out how little sleep I can still function on. :)

  • Took our 5 week old camping and she slept through the night for her very first time!

  • Attended the Brenchley Fam reunion at a ginormo cabin in Heber.
  • Moved to Hershey, PA! It's been quite an adventure so far.

  • Found out that being a mom and a med student's wife can be hard at times.

  • Taught my first Relief Society lesson! It was nerve-racking but I'm glad I was asked to do it.

  • Survived Trey's anatomy class! It was a little rough on all of us.

  • Picked and ate crab for my first time ever. It was delicious!!!

  • Made Lucy's Halloween costume and discovered I kind of like sewing. I think I might look for a sewing machine this summer when I go garage sale-ing.
  • Drove to Dayton, Ohio for Thanksgiving where I met Trey's Gma for the first time and a bunch of his relatives. We discovered that roadtripping with a 6 month old is no bueno!

  • Had a relaxing Christmas holiday in Hersh with my little lady & huzbee.

This year brought about all kinds of change in my life. It's been hard but so good for me. I feel pretty much adjusted to the whole being a mom thing (although sometimes it still weirds me out that I'm a mom). I'm still working on being adjusted to living so far away from family & being the wife of a med student. It's harder then I thought it would be. Thank heavens I have my Trey & Lucy here with me. They are my rays of sunshine on those days when I feel all cloudy inside.

Bring it on numbero 26! Let's see what you have to offer...

Wake up sleepies!

One of Lucy's favorite things to do is sit on daddy's lap and watch football with him (yes, definitely Trey's daughter). Check out what happens when it's close to her bedtime.
