i want to go there

We're bringing this funny little thing to Utah in 3 days...

...do you think Utah is ready for her??

We went to the doctor the other day and got the chicka's 1-year-old stats:
30 1/4 inches long - 75%
22.5 lbs - 70%
(She carries most of her weight in 2 places: her buddha belly and her chubby yummy thighs)

ahhh, the great outdoors...

...or so I thought until I saw this lurking right beside our campsite!!!
I have never seen a snake that big out in the wild!!  I was completely freaked out that it was going to land on us while we were peacefully eating our dinner.  Trey tried to knock it out of the tree by throwing rocks and sticks at it but was unsuccessful, which was good because I asked him what he would have done once it fell and he had no idea.  But the whole evening I kept looking up in the tree to see if I could see it watching us, plotting its attack.  That devil snake probably could have eaten Lucy!
Later when we went into town to get some firewood we talked to a lady that said that it was a Black Snake and they are completely harmless.  Whew!  I told Trey he was really lucky that he was married to a girl that wasn't normal because I'm pretty sure any normal girl would have insisted that we move our campsite to a different location.
We were at a place called Gifford Pinchot, which is about 30 minutes away from Hershey.  It was a fun little spot.  Here are some pics snapped post the snake-spotting...

This girl was in HEAVEN.  She loves playing in the dirt and putting everything she can find in her mouth.  I'm looking forward to when she grows out of the whole "tasting everything I can get my hands on" phase.
Look at that belly!
 The family tent
Our site was right on the lake.  Luce loved to look in and see all the fishies.
It was sooo hot and humid.  We aren't used to this humid camping stuff.  We stripped Luce down so she could cool off a bit.
Some duck friends on the lake
I think she ate a little too much dirt, feeling a little loopy
Doing the fire dance
Oh campfire, how I have missed you!
Luce being mesmerized by the fire
Nice little night shot across the lake
And just to wrap up the rest of the trip without going into much detail, at about 2:30am we ended up packing up our car and drove home.  Luce didn't do so well.  I'm pretty sure it was the humid heat (the low was 70 that night) plus all the dirt she ate.  We learned our lesson with east coast camping.  Next time we will be more prepared and hopefully little Luce will sleep better.

Still alive...

Wow, I think it has been about 9 months since my last post. I want to talk about finishing my first year, how I feel about things going on in the world, but will have to save all that for a later post. I thought this graphic to be much more interesting

So go ahead, take a look at this chart and then take note of what you do in the shower. My personal pie chart would need a slice for "air guitar session" but everything else is spot on.
