Punkin pickin'

Yesterday we went to a local farm to do some pumpkin picking.  It was so fun!  I've never done that before, is that weird?  In the past, we've picked out our pumpkins from the grocery store or a local stand. It was overcast and a little chilly(perfect fall weather), hence why the Luce was bundled.  We even had the hayride all to ourselves.  It made me laugh how serious Lucy was the whole time.  I guess she was just taking it all in.

They had some crazy looking gourds.  They would be fun to decorate with.

They had some funny-looking animals made out of straw.  Lucy had to pet them all, and even tried to give the pig with an amish hat a kiss.

I think this is my favorite picture from the bunch.  I love the contrast of the green and orange.  Oh and that little stinker in there is pretty dang cute too. :)

And we're back to the serious face again.  Apparently pumpkin picking is some serious business.

I can't believe Halloween is creeping up on us already!  We better get carving.  I think some carmel apples will make their way into the mix as well.  I sure do love fall. :)

Lucy's Room

Now that we are in a 3-bedroom apartment Lucy finally has a room! At our old place she shared her room with my crafting supplies, Trey's tools, and our camping gear. I felt bad that she could never play in her room because there was so much stuff everywhere that was not Lucy-friendly. So now that she has her own room I've been having a hay-day making things to decorate her white walls.

Here are a few things I've been up to:

Cutting blocks with the huzbee's saw (a little scary), then painting and mod-podging away to make these...

Then, I braved another scary tool, the staple gun. I am no longer intimidated by it, although every time a staple comes out it still makes me jump. I added some cute white polka-dotted ribbon and some little flowers and voila!

I tried to match the colors with her bedding. I still can't decide if I like the color of green I painted the peg board. But I have no intentions of repainting it any time soon so green it will stay.

The Pocoyo and friends painting is finally finished! I had intentions of giving this to her for her birthday, that's how long I've been working on it. :)

Looking at it I think I might add shadows underneath them, they kind of look like they're floating right now.

I felted some little owlies for Lulu

Lucy's room is almost how I want it. The only project I have left is to stain a few frames...oh and I just thought of another one but that will probably be an ongoing project. I have a cute pink pot on her bookshelf and planned to find some fake flowers to put in it (I have a bad track record with real plants--Trey can back me up on this) but then I thought how fun would it be to make cute little flowers out of felt and glue stems and felt leaves on them. I'm really excited about this. So if you find any cute felt flower tutorials on blogs, feel free to send them my way. I am so into felt lately, I love it!

Ahh craft therapy...it's so good for the soul. I highly recommend it to anyone who is in a slump. Making something pretty out of a bunch of random stuff is so rewarding. It makes me feel all fuzzy inside.

As for the room, I'll be sure to keep you updated on my progress. :) Ta-ta for now my lovelies!

The Missionaries Came for a Visit

My mum and dad aka Elder and Sister Brenchley came out for a quick visit last Sunday & Monday. It was sure fun to see them and play hostess. They were the first ones to try out the guest bed, which is a little firm because hardly anyone ever slept on it (or so the people we bought it from said). We might need to invest in a memory foam topper. :)
Anyway, they arrived Sunday evening and we went for a nice little walk in the lovely fall weather. The leaves are starting to change color, I looove it! We had a relaxing night and morning, took a quick trip in to Costco for some baby essentials, went out to lunch at Fiesta Mexico, and then hit up the Antique Car Museum. My dad was in heaven! I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I love the way they had it set up in there, like the groupings of cars were in a scene. The walls were beautifully painted. Here are some pictures from my dad's camera that I borrowed. :)

Can you see the lady in the pictures to your right? Yep, Miss Betty White. That car was a gift from her hubby. Pretty sweet huh! As you can see Lucy was pretty excited. She loved the car museum.

The red scooter in the middle is just like the scooter my dad used to drive around when we parents were dating. How cute are they!

This is a fake diner they had set up in one of the showrooms. It was so cute! Check out the creepy mannequin doing dishes behind us.

As we were leaving the museum I spotted some big Hershey Kisses around the back end of the museum so we drove around to check it out and this is what we found! The KISSMOBILE. I wish I could roll around town in that bad boy. Isn't it amazing? Of course we had to take pictures of it.

It was a super rainy day but it let up for a bit so we took Lucy out for a swing. This girl just loves to swing.

We had some dinner and then the parentals were off to Somerset to go back to their missionary duties. Thanks for visiting Grandma & Grandpa Brenchley! Come back soon.
