Spring Break 2010

The past 2 weeks have been heaven. Spring Break 2010 baby, yeah! Who knew they would have that in med school? I'm all for it. Trey actually only had a 1 week break, the other week he had a preceptorship with a local family doctor. He loved it. He lucked out with his preceptor, he let Trey see half the patients each day (by himself) and help with procedures. He got go put in interrupted sutures, use a Bovie to zap some moles and other stuff, take histories and do physical exams, and diagnosed a few pneumonias, etc. He really clicked with the staff and had a great time. I'm so happy he had such a good experience. And I loved that it was only a 5-minute drive from our house. Score!

The weather has been perfect. Lucy is such an outdoorsy chicka already. We can't wait to take her camping. I introduced her to grass and of course the first thing she did was pick it and put it in her mouth. She has also sampled leaves, dirt, and wood chips from the playground. YUM!

We did lots of organizing and rearranging and baby-proofing in the house this past week. I feel a lot better now about letting Lucy roam, although I still have to keep a close eye on her. This chicky is fast! The little miss took her first step yesterday, can you believe it?! I think it will be a few weeks before she starts trying to take more than one step on her own, I'll keep you updated. This girl needs to slow down! She's growing up way too fast on us.

Speaking of, Lucy has 7 teeth and is working on #8! She can't grow hair so I think she's compensating by growing teeth. I wouldn't be surprised if she had a full set of chompers by her first birthday. :)

Luce just loves reading her books. Her favorite thing to do lately is go to her shelf and take off all her books and spread them everywhere. This is super fun for mom to clean up. I can't wait until she gets old enough to learn how to clean up her own toys and books.

Check out that face, she totally knows she doing something she's not supposed to.

We took a trip out to the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg. Driving through the ghetto to get there was a fun experience. The museum was really interesting but we had to kind of rush through it since we got there 2 hours before it closed. Luce Bjorned it for most of the time and did awesome. What a good baby we have.

I sat in the back with her on the drive home and played. Blinded, ha ha, I love her face in this one.

I think she is starting to look a little more like me, but it definitely depends on the picture. She looks like me in this one I think.

We just love our little squirrel friends here. Check out this cute guy I found in the tree by our apartment! Love the nut-in-mouth pose.

This little outfit was passed down from Cousin Wren and I think it is adorable.

She totally looked like a little boy, but a dang cute one nonetheless. :)

Here she is swingy swinging with Daddy. Did I mention how much I love having a playground right outside of our apartment? So convenient!

Luce is a fan.
She is our little grease monkey whenever we go outside because I have to cake on the sunscreen on that bare little scalp of hers. Speaking of hair, I got a hair cut! I was due, my hair needed some help. :) I thought I could make it until I got back to Utah so my sissy-in-law Jules could do it for cheap but I was soo wrong. It's just collarbone length, not as short as I've had it in the past but I cut a ton of hair off. It felt so liberating.

Other Spring Break happenings of note:

  • Trey got a $109 ticket(ouch!) for turning right on red when it was "clearly" posted that it was illegal(I'd never noticed it before)
  • We attempted to visit DC on a Saturday (bad idea!) which turned into a big mess but we did get to eat at Good Stuff Eatery so there was one good thing that happened in DC. We ended up getting a parking ticket for $25 which was one of the reasons why we did not like DC that day. We ended up ditching lame DC early and cruised up to Baltimore to hang out with the Niehoffs instead. Totally redeemed the lousy day of driving in the car.
  • Kansas lost?! My bracket is still in good shape since I predicted Kentucky to take it all. GO KENTUCKY!!!
  • We got to be apart of the excitment of Match Day for the 4th year med students. We have 9 4th years in our ward. I'm sad to see them all go. They are all spread out all over the country.

Slacker

I've just been informed that I've been slacking in my Lucy picture posting so these are for you Lolly...and anyone else who wants to see what our little cookie has been up to.

Wearing her boy jammies. It's funny how much she gets mistaken for a boy. It must be the baldness.

Her favorite place to be, especially when she's half naked. :)

Lucy being a silly.

She fell asleep like this, it was just too cute not to take a picture. If you can't tell she's holding her little feet. We need to get a picture of the way she usually sleeps these days. She'll curl up on a little ball face down with her bum in the air. It's so strange but I guess it's comfortable because she loves to sleep like that.

Cheese!

Rollin' on her walker/car buggy

Passed out in daddy's arms. This is about the only time she'll cuddle anymore.

This was her first bath in the big tub. She finally outgrew the blue whale. She LOVES the big white tub, especially because she gets to play with big girl bath toys.

Pulling one of the many Lucy faces

This girl is at the cruising stage where she will pull up on anything and just cruise around the room going from one piece of furniture to the next. I feel like we've turned into the "no" police lately. She's just such a curious little thing, she gets into EVERYTHING. She's definitely keeping us on our toes. :)

Always happy when she's stuffing her face with food.

I think this was the first time I gave her cheese. We have a cheese fan! How could she not be a cheese fan with us as parents?

Here she is modeling her big girl jammies. She held this pose just for the picture, it made me giggle. She's totally stickin' out the booty.
Lu & momma

I like how she has her arm around me in this one. BFFs!

Lucy's cheesy goofy grin
Hahaha, never a dull moment with this little lady around.

It's crazy to think...

...that 9 months ago, I looked like this...

And then I went here...

And 11 hours later, I had this...

And approximately 9 months before that, I saw this...

And now I get to wake up every morning to this...

Life is so good. Happy 9 months baby doll! I sure love being your mama.
