All Things Lucy

It's time for some Lucy bloggin'.  This is long overdue, it's been a few months since I've blogged about Lucy's crazy antics.  It's been really fun to see her little personality come out more and more as she grows.
Where to begin...
Stats
15 months old
31.25 inches tall (80%) and 24.3 lbs (70%)!
Our girly is getting tall!  She carries most of her weight in her thighs, belly, and bubble bum. :)  She has a long torso and short legs like her daddy.  She has her mama's toes.
She now has 10 teeth with 2 more that are poking through.
Her hair is getting thicker...in the back.  Yes the mullet is in full force right now.  I'm hoping someday the top will catch up. :)

This girl looks so much like her daddy, especially in this picture!  That is such a Trey look.  And she still is rockin' her baby blues.  Mama thinks they are soo pretty.
Foods
Loves: spaghetti, chicken nuggets, nectarines, berries, pizza, popcicles, ice cream, steel cut oats, milk
Not so much: melons, any vegetable except for beans on occasion
Whenever I give her a nectarine I just strip her down to her diaper because those babies are juicy!  She will devour it down to the pit.
Lucy is getting pretty good at maneuvering a fork & spoon, although some of the food usually falls off on its way to her mouth.
Favorite Things
Lately she loves hats.  Everything can be turned into a hat.  Washcloth = hat.  Play grocery basket = hat.  Toy block = hat.  And my personal favorite, doll stroller = hat. I need to get a picture of that.  She loves to wear daddy's hats too.

She also is into bracelets and necklaces these days.  Sorry the pic is turned, silly blogger didn't want it to look normal so there it is.  She all decked out in her garb and sippy cup in hand.  She likes to one hand it, I think she picked it up from her cousin Zachary when we were in Utah. :)
Dancing!  She loves it, and I love watching her do it.  It makes me laugh so hard.  I especially love when she does it in front of a mirror and watches herself.  A few Sundays ago Trey and I subbed in primary and Lucy was cracking everyone up with her awesome dance moves during sharing time.  She does a cute happy feet dance that makes me giggle.
Here is a quick vid of her twirling.  Sorry you have to listen to my goofy commentary and cackles.  I'm such a mom.
Singing!  She loves to chime in at the parts she knows when I sing and do the actions to a bunch of the songs we sing like Patty Cake, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Monkeys on the Bed, etc.  My SIL Cheryl sent Lucy the best mix of kids songs for her birthday, Lucy adores it.  And it has been a lifesaver in the car!  If she ever gets bored, we just pop that in and she is happy as can be.  (Thanks again Cheryl!)
She loves watching herself in the mirror.  Whenever she puts on a "hat" she always has to go check herself out in the mirror.  Whenever I tell her she looks "so pretty" she runs over to the mirror.  I had her try on part of her Halloween costume and this is what went down.
First she gave me the saddest look like it was torture...
Then she tried to pull it off...
Then I helped her put it back on and told it was sooo cute so she went to the mirror...
And started smiling because she thought she looked pretty cute too.
Then she posed.
That's our funny little monkey.
Pool time!  We found this awesome little hippo pool for 4 dolla!!  Good old Christmas Tree Shop was having a 50% off all summer stuff sale so we scored!  And Lucy has not been able to stop bouncing and climbing on this since we got it.  Best 4 bucks we've ever spent. :)
Here she is playing in the pool on our deck.
Just as happy as can be.
Check out how huge that diaper is!!
Finally changed her into a swim diaper.  Much better.
Bath time!  Luce always gets so pumped when I say "bath".  She runs right into the bathroom and starts doing a little dance.  She loves popping the bubbles in the tub and drinking the bath water.  Gross I know!
 Um hello little Trey!
Little Miss Bubble beard
She loves to poke out her belly!
Blankets & Scarves!  She waltzes around the house about 75% of the time with a blanket or scarf around her.  She likes to wrap herself up in a blanket and lay down on the floor and "hide" and then she'll pull back the blanket and say "boo!".  Oh the silliness.
Other favorites things include:
-dogs
-playing peek-a-boo
-reading books
-balls
-cars (she loves to make the sounds too)
-playing at the playground with all her little boy friends(she's the only girl her age in the apartment complex--don't worry, she holds her own)
-chasing squirrels
-nature walks
-jumping on the couch, crib, pool, and her mom and dad
-showing us where her hair, head, nose, eyes, ears, mouth, tongue, teeth, hands, bellybutton, and toes are
-being chased and tickled
-her rocking chair from Miss Bev and also the singing duck from Miss Bets and White Mike
-playing with her toys (especially the ones that make lots of noise)
-wrestling with daddy when he comes home from school
-riding in her bike seat - we just love this!  it's called an i-bert and it is awesome.  don't worry peeps, we didn't take her for a ride until we got her a helmet (this was taken in May--Luce looks so tiny!).  we have a helmet for the little one that she always wears when we ride.
-playing in the recycling bin and removing all the contents
-watching Pocoyo and Elmo's world
-clapping-she'll clap when she does something good, when we finish a song, or when her little friends do something good.
-waving, but only after we leave of course
-playing a game of finding where all of my moles are, she especially likes the ones on my neck.
-the helicopters that fly over our apartments (because we live right across the street from the hospital)
-putting things in between her toes
-pushing the stroller, shopping cart, and all the toys out on the playground--she will put a rock, stick, toy, or anything else she finds on the seat of one of the playground bikes and then push it around like she's giving it a ride
Words
She mainly speaks in jibberish (which strangely sounds a lot like Ewok) but here are some actual words I've heard her say: Mama, Daddy, no, hot, cool, pop, bubble, banana, pasta, tummy, Jesus, pig, cow, car, cat, dog, duckie, ball, shoes, poo, boo, owl (I giggled with delight when she said this one--I am an owl lover!), Pocoyo, Pato, cookie(Cookie Monster), and stinky.  That's all I can think of at the moment.  She's funny, I think she knows a lot more but she's holding out on us.  She will have these moments where out of the blue she will pronounce a word perfectly, it's so strange.  She picked up a few signs too, she uses "more", "all done", and "milk".  It helps us out a lot.  I prefer that over her yelling when she wants something and then I run all around the kitchen guessing what she wants.
I love when she grabs a book and starts reading to herself.  Check it out.
She's been saying "One, two...three!" a lot lately.  She's got the tone just right, as you can see in the video.  Usually she will say it and flop on her bum after three or attempt to jump.  Too darn cute.
Behavior
Recently she thinks it's fun to throw little tantrums.  Yeah, not so cute.  I just tell her I can't understand her when she screams like that and I leave the room and tell her let me know when she's done.  After about a minute or two she usually decides she's got it out of her system.  I'm dreading the day that she decides to throw a massive fit at the grocery store.  Ugh.  Seems like that happens to every mom at least once.
Here she is being good, just chillin' on the floor.  She'll do that sometimes.
She got into her first bit of mischief this past Monday.  I was checking a few things on the Internet and she was playing behind the couch very quietly.  That should have been the red flag right there because usually when it gets quiet she's doing something she's not supposed to be doing.  Out of the blue I hear her say "tummy" (which was the first time I heard her say that) so I got up to tell her good job and ask about her tummy and I see this!
She somehow opened the lid of the diaper rash cream and proceeded to "paint" her body, all of the diaper changing stuff, the floor, and her face.  I had to laugh and take a quick picture before I told her it was a no no.
We have quite the curious little girl.  She's always getting into things and trying to open and close containers.  She loves to climb on everything, especially chairs.  She loves to just climb on and then get right back off.  She can entertain herself for a good 5-10 minutes just doing that.
She loves to take care of her stuffed animals.  Whenever she picks one up she'll cuddle it, give it pats on the back like she's burping it, and then give it a kiss.  She's also done that with her sippy cups.  I guess the girl just loves her beverages.
Lucy is really good at sharing her food with us and her friends. She really likes putting the food into our mouths.  She's still pretty possessive of her toys so we're working on that one.
Personality
This girl is sure full of spunk, sass, and energy.  She is always on the go.  It's hard to keep up with her sometimes.  She can be shy when she doesn't know people but she can also be such a ham and put on a show to complete strangers.  It just depends on her mood I guess.  She loves getting people to smile and say "how cute!"  She totally knows when she's being cute.  Here is a video just showing a little of her silliness.  I giggle every time she scrunches up her eyes, I can't help it.
Definitely a ham.  She is like that most of the time when she's at home.
She came into the room today with her sunglasses on, sipping her milk like it was no big deal, Trey & I started laughing.  How could you not?
There is never a dull moment at the Banbury household when Lucy is present.
She's pretty observant and cautious when entering a new place or situation.  She'll get frustrated really easily if she can't figure out how to do something.  She makes a certain screech and we know both know right away that she needs help with something.
Lucy is such a fun and sweet girl!  I have a blast taking care of her.  We always think of silly games to play to keep us entertained during the day.  I am in deep smitt with this girl. :)

And that, my friends, is our little Lucy in a nutshell.  The end.

The land of cheese steaks...

For Labor day this year we decided to venture over to Philly for the day with our friends the Hulls.  Philadelphia is a really cool city.  First, we saw the Liberty Bell.  This is us standing in line to see the famous cracked bell.
 Chase and Reese
 Jen and Jett
Apparently Jett's Baby Bjorn was pretty tasty because he was going to town on it.  Isn't he adorable?
  Lu bear
Banburys and "the bell"
 Independence Hall
Getting ready to tour the town with all the kiddies in their strollers.
Here are some cool things we saw...
And my favorite part of the day, trying an authentic cheese steak.  Our friend Fred who grew up in Philly told us that we had to go to Pat's.  I guess there is a blood feud going on between Pat's and Geno's for who has the better cheese steak.  Did you know that a real cheese steak is made with Cheese Whiz?  Funny huh!  I found that out soon after we moved out here.  And surprisingly it tasted really good.
As you can see they are both quite popular.
By the time we got back to our cars we were all pretty tired from all the walking we did.  Next time we're out there we'll try to hit up the Rocky steps and maybe give Geno's a try.

Update on us

So now that I'm caught up on the trip that we took 2 months ago(what an awesome blogger I am) it's time to dish what we've been up to in our neck of the woods as of late.
A few weeks after we got back from Utah we moved into a bigger apartment!  Hooray for all the space!  I'm seriously loving it!  I am so grateful to our amazing friends who helped us out with moving all of our shtuff and who watched Lucy so we could be quick and efficient.  We knocked out all of the actual moving in an hour and a half!  Not too shabby I'd say.  The unpacking all of the boxes, however, is still a work in progress.  I promise we will soon have all the decorations put up and all the knick knacks organized and put away and then I can take some pictures and give ya'll a virtual tour.
My SIL dyed my hair brown the day before I left Utah.  It took me about a week and a half before I decided I liked it.  I wish I had a picture of it all cute and done up but I don't so too bad for you.  Most days my hair ends up in a ponytail. :)
Trey has started school again.  He just finished his first test a few weeks ago and it went well.  Second year has been so much easier to deal with, probably because I know what to expect this time around.  It's also nice because Lucy is a lot more independent than she was a year ago (3 months old).  Yep, my girl is now 15 months old!  And I'm counting down the days until she can go into Nursery.  3 more months, wahoo!  Church has become quite a chore with our little busy body.  She always just wants to be up and exploring and chasing her little boy friends in the halls.  Lucy has lots of little boys her age that she likes to play with.  More on Lucy in a later post...
Trey built himself a desk!  It turned out awesome!  I'm so proud of my honey's mad skillz.
The desk is made up of a piece of plywood and 2 filing cabinets.  I love the way it turned out, I especially love that Trey chose to stain it so you can see the cool wood grain.  Now he has something to study on at home which means we get to see him more!  That is definitely a plus.
I can't think of anything else we've been up to really.  Just getting settled in our new nest.  Oh I shut my finger in the car door on Sunday, that was quite eventful I guess.  I can't believe how bad it hurt!  What's worse was I had been fasting all day so I had nothing in my stomach.  I kind of started going into shock because my finger looked disgusting!  I put ice on it, ate some food, took 800 mg of ibuprofen, and sprawled out on the couch praying the pills would kick in soon.  Once they did it wasn't so bad.  Here is a picture of it now...
It still feels pretty numb and weird.  The tip is all red because a bunch of my capillaries burst.  Nothing is broken though, thank heavens!
I've been feeling all crafty lately so I've been working on a few projects that will hopefully be done soon so more on that later.
So that's it for now.  Sorry if we're boring, we'll try to be more exciting in the coming month.
