We decided we were in need of an adventure and we heard it was going to be a beautiful day so we ventured off to Lake Tobias for some good old fashioned family fun. Lake Tobias is kind of a zoo, but better in my opinion. You could get so close to the animals and at some parts, pet them. They had some interesting animals that I've never seen at a zoo before. Check it.
I think all the big cats are so majestic in person. It was really neat to be so close to this pretty lady. They also had some tigers and a cougar.
I've never been so close to an alligator before. They were just taking a nap in the sun.
This funny little guy is a capybara. They were pretty weird looking, but the babies were kind of cute.
Up close and personal with the ostriches. Those are tall animals!
I loved being able to see the detail of the stripes on this zebra.
He came over to say hello. Isn't he cute? I told him I liked his mohawk.
wallabies
cute little prairie dogs
Okay, is this not the weirdest/saddest looking horse you have ever seen? Something just isn't right. It looks like it has the head of a horse and the body of a pig with a crazy hairdo. The best part was that it was scratching its bum on that metal latch while I was taking the picture. I showed this to my mom and she guessed that it is a pygmy horse. What do you think? Everytime I come upon this picture I get the giggles. :)
Llama face! Actually it was an alpaca if you want to be all politically correct.
We ran into this horse again and I had Lucy pet him because by his body language he really looked like he hated the world, poor thing. Lucy showed him some love. I wonder what it would have done if we tried to put Lucy on its back...
We fed the goats!
Here is a clip of Lu feeding a goat. He got an ovation every time he ate a cracker.
After the petting zoo, we went on the Safari ride. We got on a big bus without a top so we could see the animals up close and personal and feed and pet them if we wanted. I was surprised at how friendly most of them were. I guess they knew that big buses = food. We saw lots of deer...
Here is part of the big open area that the animals could roam in. I liked that because it didn't feel so much like a zoo.
We came upon some zedonks. I'm sure you can guess what kind of a mixture they are.
We don't know that guy but this just shows you how close the animals get. That's a buffalo!
Lucy loved the Safari ride and pointing out all the animals. She was being so silly.
Family photo!
I love these two. I love this picture.
These are nicknamed "Hippy cows". Check out those long shaggy locks!
This guy was just a few feet in front of us, he was totally posing for the camera.
Some pretty females
Here is a video of Lucy driving the bus. I enjoy watching her whispy hair blowing in the wind.
These fine specimens are Watusi cattle, which are considered sacred to certain African tribes. Those horns can grow to be up 6 feet long and 20 inches in circumference at the base! They were huge.
This just shows you how friendly this guy was.
Here is one of the buses.
Lucy enjoyed the cows. That's one of her favorite words to say these days.
This one is a longhorn. You can tell by its beautiful red coat.
And that was the pretty much it. We all had a great time. Lucy was so happy on the ride home, she just loves her animals. We finished off the trip by stopping by Burger King, the only fast food place we will eat at because it doesn't give us gut bombs. Good job BK! The Banburys enjoy your flamebroiled goodness!
I guess we wore her out. :)
Animals + BK = one satisfied, and sleepy baby.

How fun! That seems like one awesome zoo. Dennen said that he ate capybaras for lunch in Brazil. It's the world's largest rodent.
That poor, poor horse/pig/donkey/freak... How nice of Lucy to be kind to the poor little guy. Why do we humans breed such crazy animals sometimes?
Yes! Capybaras are awesome. We called them Rodents of Unusual Size on my mish. Princess Bride anyone?
P.S. Burger King:
"It's a GREAT restaurant!"
