I remember back in the oh-so-awkward junior high days you could buy valentines suckers and roses and have them sent to whoever you wanted, anonymously or not. They would get delivered during class. So basically everyone could judge how cool each other was by how much loot they got. Eesh, Jr. high was so lame!
I would have to say my favorite Valentine's days were waaaay back when I was in elementary school. First, there was the designing of the valentines box. I loooved thinking up fun ways to decorate my box and make it look the coolest. Then, there was the valentine selection process. I would carefully go through all of my valentines and decide which one I liked the most (that one would of course go to the boy I had a crush on at the time), and the ones that were lame, those went to the boys that I didn't care too much for. I wasn't too worried about the girls valentines. But I always made sure my best girl friends got extra candy. I also remember hand picking which conversation hearts I put with all the valentines for the boys. Heaven forbid I give anyone the wrong impression! And my most favorite part, the opening of all the valentines, especially the one from your special guy that didn't know that you liked him and you hoped that he secretly liked you back. If only those boys knew how much girls read into that stuff, ha ha...or was I the only one? I'm pretty sure most the of boys' moms chose and stuffed their valentines for them.
I'm glad those drama-filled Valentine's days are long gone, but I can't wait to be in on it with my kids. It will be quite entertaining.

I remember those stupid deliveries in jr. high. Not great for your self esteem. Whoever thought that up needs to be smacked.
Ah yes, elementary was definitely some of the best Valentine's Day memories I have. Our class mom would bring cupcakes which was pretty awesome. I love that you hand picked the conversation hearts and cards! I never did that, but loved getting all the candy goodness.
I did the same thing with valentines in elementary school - picking out the best for "my boy."
But, ya know what it's turned into now? They don't even give "the List" anymore, they just give you a number (how many kids in the class) and tell you to bring that many to school - completely generic. They tell you NOT to write the other students names on them - to just sign your name. That way, you can just drop one - any old one - into everyones' box/bag/paper pocket REAL fast and easy. And there's no envelopes to the valentines anymore - so how the heck are you suppose to put in the conversation hearts? There aren't ones that say, "Teacher" on them, either! Waaahh....I still find myself protesting the way things are now.
ha ha I totally remember going to your house and sitting in the basement and looking at each conversation heart and thinking that if the boy put that one in there it must be true!! I also remember one year I think 6th grade and you were saying how you hated the conversation hearts and I had stuffed your valentine so full of conversation hearts and right after you said that they all spilled out ha ha I was so embarrassed!! I agree about the boxes though those were the best!!
Good memories. It was fun to see your sixth grade photo. Did I ever write and stuff your brothers' valentines? I don't remember.
Now those are some good memories!!! I remember picking out that ridiculous pink outfit and curling my own hair for the first time just for that pic. Pretty crazy how it really doesn't feel all that long ago!! Time flies! Looks like you guys are having a blast in Hershey!!
