An update sans pictures...

...is kind of lame. But what can you do when your 2-year-old accidentally knocks your camera off the desk and breaks the lens? I'll tell you, use the opportunity to get a new camera, that's what! We have heard about this awesome camera that just barely came out but we're waiting to see reviews on it to make sure it's what we want to invest our money in. I'm hoping some come up soon because I reeeeeally miss taking pictures and videos of the crazy Banbury adventures. Okay, so we really haven't had many since the camera went the way of the earth but that little Lucy is always doing funny things and being cute and I miss documenting it. And this belly, oh wow! It's getting large. I'm definitely carrying this little girl straight out, even more than I did with Lucy.
So let's see...here are a few updates on us:

  • TREY - He is currently on his OB/GYN rotation and he's really enjoying it, like a lot more than he thought he would. He said if being an OB was just delivering babies and not all the other fun womanly stuff then he would totally be on board. But the other stuff is enough to deter him from choosing that field. I love that he gets to work with my awesome OB most days so they're becoming buddies. I'm glad he has this rotation so close to us having our babe because it's got him really excited about it. He said his favorite part of being there for a birth has been watching a new dad's face when he sees his child for the first time. So tender. He hasn't been able to catch a baby yet and this is his last week on this rotation so hopefully he'll get to before he's done. On Friday, he has his test and then he'll have 2 weeks of research and then 2 weeks of an elective, which will be Emergency Medicine. The great thing about an elective is it's a short rotation and he doesn't have a test at the end of the rotation so no studying for the next 4 weeks basically! Woohoo! Then he'll go on to his Family Medicine rotation for the next 8 weeks. He'll be on that when the baby is due. Yikes! It's all happening so quickly!
  • MICHELLE - I've been a baby stuff crafting maniac! It's finally slowing down since I'm running out of projects. Once I get a camera I can take pictures and show you all the fun that I've had over the past month. I'm 31 weeks along right now, 9 weeks to go! I'm in the single digit countdown now friends. What the what?! Little girly is active these days, I love it! I'll never get tired of looking down and seeing my belly go nuts. Lucy loves to watch and giggle. She'll poke at my belly and say "come on little lady!" I can't wait to see these two be sisters. :) I've been reading the book HypnoBirthing and I love it! I don't think I'm going to do the full on thing with taking the classes and everything but I definitely am excited to use the techniques to relax myself during labor. I've decided to go into this birth open-minded and if the techniques are working and I can work through the contractions and I'm feeling confident then I'm going to try it natural. We'll see how it goes. I'm totally fine with getting another epidural too. We'll just kind of play it by ear. I just feel like I want to be a little more alert this time around because with Lucy I labored through the night and then pushed for 2 hours and by the end I was so exhausted it almost felt like an out of body experience, like I wasn't really there. I didn't feel like I could really bond with her as I held her for the first time because I was so out of it and just worn out. I also like the idea of not just laying in bed while going through contractions. I would love to try different standing and sitting positions. I just feel like gravity might help with the process if I'm able to stand. It should be interesting to see how it all plays out. I'm excited. I think the big goal with this one is to go in with no fear. I've done this once, I can do it again! So I'm all about being positive since I know more about what to expect. Let's do this!
  • LUCY - Oh where to begin. We started doing a preschool co-op with some of Lucy's little friends and it's been really fun. We just have it once a week and each of the moms takes a turn hosting it and teaching a lesson. She's really enjoyed it so far. It's a good way to get her ready for real preschool next year. Now we just need to get her potty trained! She is a strong-minded lady so we're kind of backing off because the more we push, the more reluctant she's becoming with it. So we'll just have to wait until she makes it up in her mind that she's ready...sigh...I was really hoping I wouldn't have to change 2 bums and buy 2 sizes of diapers but it's looking like that's how it's going to be. I think Lucy is just trying to teach me to be more patient. :) Lu's favorite things to do these days are playing outside, zinging around the house on her balance bike, painting, doing puzzles, watching Ice Age and Kung Fu Panda, dancing, helping me bake, playing hide-and-seek, and having friends over to play. She is so much fun and has me laughing so much throughout the day. I love the funny things that come out of her mouth. I love when she comes up and gives me a huuuge hug and attacks my face with kisses. I love that when I get hurt she is so concerned about me and she'll come and ask what happened and then kiss it better. I love when she plays with my hair and tries to do it. I love to see her interact with Trey. She's such a daddy's girl. She is also miss independent these days and wants to comb her own hair, pick out her own clothes, put her shoes on by herself, and the list goes on and on.   Most of the time I just let her, ya gotta pick your battles and I just don't think it's worth it most days. Sometimes I do have to veto an outfit, which is then followed by a hissy fit. Ah girls, so emotional sometimes. Gotta love 'em. :)
In other family news, Trey & I got free tickets(thanks again Kelly!) to a Hershey Bears Game last Saturday. The seats were awesome, we sat by this cute little old man who was a die hard hockey fan who stood about 5 feet tall. It was really fun going to a big sporting event, it's been a really long time since I've been to one. And they won! It was a close game. I forgot how much fun it is to get into a game and feel the adrenaline rush when they score. It reminded me of going to Utah State basketball games. I sure miss those.
We've been talking about places we might want to go for residency since Trey will be a fourth year med student very shortly. If he chooses to specialize in Anesthesia, we would really like to stay here. But if he decides he loves Emergency Medicine then we would probably go somewhere else that has a better program. These next few months will be quite exciting for our little family. We'll add one more, Trey will decide on which specialty he's going to do, and he'll start applying for residency programs all over the country. It should be good fun! I'll try to be better at updating the blog to keep ya'll informed. No guarantees though, especially once this baby makes her debut. :)
Over and out!

I can't seem to get this comment thing right...If you are interested, I can tell you all about birthing "naturally" at Hershey (I am assuming that is where you'll be). It is a little tricky, but it is nice to know what to expect!

I've taken part in a dozen or so natural births while on night float and L&D while at Hershey...didn't seem very tricky to me. Nurses, staff, and physicians were very supportive and even excited for those who did not get epidurals. It' actually makes the OB's life easier.

Awesome Trey! Good to know.
