Christmas mornin'

Here are some pictures of our Christmas morning in Hershey. Luce was pretty stoked about the fun wrapping paper, boxes, and ribbon, even more so than her presents. Her favorite thing was this crinkly shiny paper that Grandma Robin put in all the gifts. It's so funny how fascinated she is in the simplest of things. And of course, all of it had to be taste-tested.

Christmas morning "nap face"

Our first Hershey Christmas was a great success! We all got some fun things and enjoyed just being together as a fam. Trey cooked up some yummy ebelskivers (sp?) filled with cinnamon sugar and topped with cream cheese icing. Oh they were oh so fabulous! It was like having dessert for breakfast, which is why we save these delightful treats for special occasions only.

Unfortunately, Luce could not sample the goods. She had some yummy mashed up bananas and oatmeal instead. Sorry girl, next Christmas you'll be able to be in on the fun. Check out that face, she knew she was missing out on the good stuff.

Christmas evening we went over to a friend's house and had a scrumptious feast. We had planned to act out the nativity after dinner (since Luce decided to go to sleep early the night before) but Lucy must have been so worn out from all the excitement that she passed out right after dinner AGAIN. We ended up doing it the next morning. Better late than never, right?

The tree, the girl, and the eve of Christmas

I can't believe Christmas is already over! It came and went so quickly...too quickly, in fact, that I didn't have time to post some December pictures so here they are.

Here is our Christmas tree, Roosevelt. This year we decided to get a chubby tree, instead of our usual skinny and sparse Charlie Brown-type tree. I became quite fond of dear Roosevelt. Such a happy tree. Notice our soul sista is still watching over us here in Hershey.

Each year we get a new ornament for the tree. This year's ornament is quite fitting, don't you think? I thought he was super cute.

And this is Lucy's ornament, a little squirrel. Also fitting because we have a ton of pet squirrels out here that Lucy and I just love to watch. And look how darn cute it is! He's holding a wee pine cone in his hands.

And of course here is our little stinker being silly.

We've started feeding her solids, as you can see in the prior post. I also got some of those little stars that melt in your mouth for Lucy to practice her fine motor skills. She's pretty good at grabbing them but piles them into her hand rather than putting them into her mouth. Her sweaty hand soon turns them into a star glob. This picture above is her actually putting one in her mouth, but you can also see a few that are in her palm. Silly girl.
Luce liked playing under the tree. She liked grabbing a branch on the tree and shaking it. She could have cared less about the lights or ornaments.
Here is Lucy unwrapping her very first Christmas present on Christmas Eve. Lucy takes her present unwrapping very seriously as you can see. Of course she was more excited about the paper then the actual present. Trey & I were pretty excited about it though. She got some baby Muk Luks. We all got slippers from my parents that we opened on Christmas Eve.
Well done Mom! We all love them.

We had a fabulous dinner cooked by Mr. Banbury, my gourmet chef. :) It was this Rachel Ray recipe, I think it's called Honey Teryaki Chicken with Rice Balls. Delish! We had plans of acting out the Christmas story and then driving around Hershey to look at all the Christmas lights but Luce decided she wanted to pass out right after dinner so we put her to bed and watched Harry Potter (one of our favorite pastimes) instead.

better than 'bitter beer face'

This girl cracks me up. I just had to post these 2 videos we took of her tasting applesauce for the first time last night. You would think she was eating a lemon by the silly faces she pulls. Oh Luce, you are always good for some cheap entertainment.

It's funny to me that she keeps opening her mouth for more after each funny face. She must like the tartness of the apples because she just keeps coming back for more.

I hope you enjoy our cackles, we were both dying.

{my little weed}

Check me out in all my glory, I'm 6 months old! Woo woot!

(We just love that little squishy bubble bum of hers)

I seriously can't believe how much this little girl has grown, especially in the past 2 months! She's so big! It's weird to look at her tiny little clothes that drowned her when she was a newborn and think that she was that small.

Here are 2 pictures of the chompers. She finally gave in to the camera and showed her pearly whites.

She still has the fine peach fuzz but now she's sporting a funky hair line to go along with it. It kind of resembles a flat-top. Awesome Luce!!!

I still don't see much of me in her as far as her facial features go. She is a little Trey for sure!

Silly face!

Lucy tried to edit this but she kind of missed...hope none of you are offended :)

Talking to Mr. Whale.

She's getting so close to crawling. She wants to, she's just trying to figure out how to work her legs. Not kidding you, the other night she was playing around on her belly and I looked over and she had pushed herself up into downward dog (the yoga position)! It was crazy!!! Trey & I about died. Unfortunately we weren't quick enough with the camera.

Lately she's figured out how to puppy pant, it's pretty funny. I'm happy she's finally figured out that she can breathe through her mouth and not just her nose.
Check out those round cheeks...I'm pretty sure she's watching Anne of Green Gables here. She loves it! She is definitely my daughter.

Squash face! She had her first taste of solids (other than the bland rice cereal stuff) and we're 1 for 1! She gobbled it right up. I think we'll try green beans next. That should be interesting.
When my parents were out, my mom and I found this cute little bunting outfit at a garage sale. I think it had been worn like once, it looked brand new. Anyway, it's finally getting cold enough for her to use it. Isn't it awesome? I love the little ears on the hood. I could just eat her up!
She's getting to be more & more fun every day. She's got the funniest little personality, I love it.

Toofs

Guess who cut not just 1, but 2 teeth this past week!! Yup, you guessed it, it was Trey! Good job honey, I could not be more proud! No, actually it was Luce. Crazy huh! It seems a bit early to me because I'm pretty sure she won't be using those chompers anytime soon. She really hasn't even started eating solids yet, except for the occasional serving of rice cereal that she ends up wearing and not actually ingesting.

It was so nice to finally figure out why she had been waking up several times a night for the prior 2 weeks (she's usually such a good lil sleeper). I thought she was just doing it to make us crazy. I have a lot more sympathy for her now, that growing teeth business has got to be painful. Poor little cookie. I tried to get a picture of them but it will be a 2 person job because that fast little tongue always gets in the way.

In other news, we're headed to Ohio next week for Thanksgiving! Woot woot, I've been sooo craving an adventure. This will be Lucy's first road trip. I hope she just zonks out for most of the drive, otherwise it could be an interesting ride. We're going to hang out with Trey's Aunt Lo, Gma Donna, and a bunch of Trey's extended fam who I have never met. Should be fun! Can you believe Thanksgiving is already next week??!! Where does the time go? Seriously!

Well here are some pics of Luce for all of her fans out there. She's getting bigger! The little monkey will be 6 months on the 29th!!!

Here she is showing a little leg...

Ha ha ha, she is fascinated by the camera.

She just started to hold her own bottle! Now that she has teeth she thinks she has to go all "big girl" on us.

Just getting her lounge on.

Lucy face!

Another Lucy face

I'll try to get a toofer picture and post it soon. I have some Lucy footage that I need to post also.

One word...

D-I-S-G-U-S-T-I-N-G!!!

Look at this creature I found on as I was sweeping off our patio!!! It gives me the willies just looking at it. Check out all the legs coming out from every which way!! And those long antennas coming from its head and bum! These little devils are fast, I'm surprised I got a picture of it. It was about 2 inches long. I had my first encounter with one of these bad boys my second week here, but it got away! And it was in the house!! Eeek!! Never did find it...
Well I'm happy to say that this one did not get away, I squashed that nasty bugger. Hopefully I don't see one of its relatives coming to get revenge any time soon. I'm NOT a fan of the creepy crawlies.

Spooky Scary

Can you believe it's November already? And sure enough I feel like I'm already being bombarded with Christmas stuff...it's November people! Come on! Let us celebrate the beautiful holiday of Thanksgiving first, shall we? Eeesh! Okay I'm done ranting.

Well the fall leaves are quite pretty out here in the Hersh. I had Trey take pics of me and Luce by our tree right outside of our apartment.

Trey got all artsy with this one, I thought it turned out pretty cool.

My pretty-eyed family...Trey's definitely got that crazy look in his eye

Here is our happy little punkin family

Here they are all lit up...Trey carved the Zero skull, I carved Bubs from Homestarrunner, and Lucy carved her name with a heart next to it. Clever girl eh?
And here is the Lucinator's costume...

Cutest little owl I ever did see! We went trick-or-treating to a few of our friend's apartments here at the manor. Luce wasn't a very happy camper so we had to keep it brief. It will be fun next year when she can actually eat some of the candy she gets.
