Our dear friend Charles...

Oh Charles, how we love you so! Meet Charlie, our pet Marmot that lives in our gutter. He was named by our old neighbors who have long since moved away. His interests include peeking out from his hideout and staring at our house(who knows why it's so interesting, besides the fact that we live in it of course), basking in the sun when it's actually warm, being a daredevil and darting across the street in front of cars, and taking care of his cute little family. Last summer we noticed just Charlie hanging out by our house...but then we saw a more petite & skinnier Marmot with him. Yup, Charlie had a girlfriend. Woo woo, what a pimp! Then a few months later we noticed a bunch of little Charlies running around. They were so cute!!!

Here are some pictures we've taken over the past year. He really is like our little pet. It always makes my day when I see Charlie and his family hangin out by our house. I'm pretty sure he prefers us to the Jeppsons. :) Trey saw him hanging out under our car port the other day. He was being super daring that day. He usually won't come too close to the house.

He's totally posing in this one

This is his thinner lady friend, we still need to come up with a good name for her

It makes me laugh when I see their cute little heads poking out of their hide out

Our friend dropped Trey off the other day and she saw Charlie and was like, wow that's a weird looking cat! I thought it was pretty funny.

Well Charlie, you are a stud, that's all there is to it. Thanks for picking our gutter. You bring a smile to all who see you. I dedicate this post to you little buddy.

We love Charlie! I'm surprised you have pictures of him! (He seemed pretty shy when we saw him.)

Thanks for sharing your cute pet with us. How about Charlene for his friend? Do you ever feed them?

we've tried to feed them, but marmots typically eat wild grass shoots and sometimes grubs and the like. he just likes to laze in our front yard and nibble on the lawn until a loud truck comes by and scares him.

Although we did try to feed him our banana oatmeal(the kind neither of us like) but I don't think he enjoyed it too much either. It's not there anymore so either he choked it down or the rains/snows have disintegrated it.

Name her Helen. Then they'd be Charles and Helen just like my parents! Hahaha. I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog!

Ha ha, it's done then Cheryl...Helen it is! I'm glad you enjoy reading our randomness and 'deep thoughts'.

Very cute! Lol- but what do they do when it rains and the gutter fills with water? You should leave treats out for them and snap some pics!

Nevermind...I just read the comments!

I love the little guy! I'm sad I have never had the chance to see him. Maybe soon. Your pet is way cooler than ours!
