Weekend Getaway

This past weekend we had a much needed night of fun, crabs, bonfire, and games. Saturday afternoon we trekked on down to Forest Hill, Maryland with a bunch of Trey's classmates to stay at the Niehoff residence (our friend Kate's parents house). We got into a minor car wreck on the way there, luckily none of us got hurt (and thank heavens for infant car seats!). It was funny that it was Kate who actually rear ended us. Our Subaru definitely won the battle. Poor Ron Burgundy (Kate's car) will need a face lift for sure.

The Niehoff's house was amazing! When we arrived they had dinner waiting for us, which entailed Maryland Blue Crab! Yay! Trey & I had never "picked crabs" before. It was quite a fun process, totally messy, but a good time for sure. My favorite part was mashing the hard outer shell with a mallet. I'm definitely a fan. The crab was super tasty...almost sweet. And they had the most delicious food to go with the crabs: chicken, burgers, corn, beans, salad, crab balls, coleslaw, and the yummiest desserts too. We ate like queens and kings.

Here we are, picking away...

They just piled the crabs up in the middle of the table and said "go to town!"

Here's the whole group, who Trey lovingly has nicknamed "The Crew". Not everyone in "the crew" was present but this is a good chunk of them.

Oh and Kate's mom was a hoot. She just loved Lucy to pieces. Here they are hangin' out while everyone was picking crabs. It was a little chilly so we had Lucy all bundled.

After dinner they made a bonfire in their backyard and everyone roasted marshies and chit chatted. Here is the Penn State Class of 2013, woot woot!

I love the random floating marshmellow in our little family picture.

We then played games and talked til the wee hours of the night. We had such a great time! Here we are eating the smorgasbord of breakfast food, including banana, blueberry, and chocolate chip pancakes! Mmm..
All of Trey's friends in his class are not married and without child so at first it was kind of weird hanging out with them because I felt a little out of place but now I feel totally comfortable around them. They all love Lucy to death. None of them are LDS (Trey is the only LDS person in his class) so it's been fun answering questions they have about the "crazy mormons", ha ha.

What a fun time. The crab looks yummy. Those parents sure did treat you well. Fun to see the photos, especially the bonfire ones. Sorry about the accident. Glad no one was hurt. And what an opportunity you have for missionary work.

Michelle! How are you guys? Lucy is getting so big! She is adorable...the video of her rolling over is so cute. I can't believe a baby can change so much in 4 months. What's your email? I want to send you pics of Bailey. Hope all is well!
