What we've been up to the past 4 weeks...

Sorry for the lack of Lucy pics, getting adjusted to this being mom thing is taking some time. It never seems like there are enough hours in the day! I figure it will get easier to get things done as Lu gets older and on a schedule. I've pretty much turned into a complete bum. Most days I don't even make it out of my bathrobe, ha ha ha. Parenthood is so glamourous. :) And despite all of the new adjustments that have been a little rough (lack of sleep), I absolutely love being a mom! I now can totally understand what all my mom friends told me about being a mom...it's not easy but it is soo worth it. This little girl has got her parents wrapped around her little finger. Just look at that sweet face, how could you not be?

It's been fun getting to know Lu these past 4 weeks. We've figured out which cry means what for the most part, which is nice. I'm happy to report that she now weighs 7 lbs 6 oz. Her face and her belly have filled out nicely. She's already grown a half inch too! This girl has got her mom's body for sure, long legs, long toes (especially the 2nd, pointed out in the previous post), long arms, and long fingies.

Here are some of her funny little quirks that we love:
*She can rip some awesome farts! She ripped one the other night and I looked over at Trey (he was holding her) and said, "Was that you?" and he started giggling and said, "No, that was Luce!" *Her hands must be in her face or by her face at all times. It makes it hard to feed her when her hands are blocking her mouth, makes for some good times! ;)
*We love it when she goes cross-eyed.
*Trey loves burping her because she sniffs his neck with her cold little puppy dog nose.
*We can always tell when she's peeing because her mouth forms a perfect "O". We call it her Cheerio mouth.
*She always peeks out of one of her eyes at ya when the other one is closed.
*She makes the funniest little noises & girly grunts.
*She has sneezing spells. Her record is 6 sneezes in a row!!
*She loves to straighten her long legs and spread her toes. I can't wait until I can teach her how to grab stuff with those long toes of hers.
*She has a really firm grip! Don't be fooled by her size, she is one tough cookie!
*She is just so stinkin cute & fun to look at.

Lucy has also been quite the little traveler. We've taken her all over and she's been so good! I hope she'll get used to all the moving around because we'll be doing a lot of it in the next few weeks!

Here are some pics we snapped from the past few weeks:

And here are some pics from the other shenanigans that we've been up to. Trey wanted me to straighten his hair the other night and here is the end result...

Sorry ladies, this hot emo boy is already taken.
Look at those gorgeous long locks...I think the back is looking a bit mullet-ish
Just had to take one with a pony tail...sick
Luce wanted to join in on the fun
I was laughing so hard when I was trying to take these pics of Lucy. She wasn't too keen on the toupe. Some day our little baldy will have her own hair.

Slo Mo Dove...

This is an amazing video. It is the "literal" version. Please watch and laugh as Meesh and I did.

Proof...

...that Lucy has the Brenchley long second toe

My dear Lucy's newborn footprint. Notice how well spread out her toes are...another trait from her mother.

What Luey (yes that's spelled right) has to look forward to

Introducing Lucy Kay Banbury!!

She's finally here!!! Here are some pictures of little LuLu's arrival and first few days of life...more detailed birth story coming soon! I'll let Trey take care of that one.

We sure do love our little Lucy. Isn't she just precious? Her arrival went really smoothly. My water broke before I even felt any strong contractions. It totally took us by surprise, that's for sure! We went into the hospital at 10:45pm Thursday night and had her at 9:50am Friday morning. She came out 6 lb 8 oz, 19.5 lbs inches long. She has her daddy's mouth, nose, and ears and her mommy's long limbs, hands, feet, and long 2nd toe! :) Her hair is a light brown color but looks like it might turn blond. Trey & I were both blondies as babes. Hope you enjoy the pics and I'll have Trey follow up soon with the deets.

The arrival...

So our daughter came to us yesterday (friday) morning at 9:50am. She weighed in at a slim 6lbs 8oz and measured 19.5 inches long. We named her Lucy Kay Banbury. I am home just to eat some breakfast and take a shower and I'm headed back to the hospital so no pics or anything yet. We'll be home Sunday morning sometime and I'll do a better post then. Feel free to visit in the hospital. Lu loves being held by anyone. I haven't slept in a few days so my brain is mush...just a heads up if this post doesn't make sense. Being a dad is the most amazing thing.

Oh saturdays...

So I love to do cool little projects in my free time. I've always wanted to do something to our boring, ugly, light brown coffee table we purchased from IKEA (we bought it for 30 bones way back when). I decided it needed to be black and the surface would be domino. There is a little shelf that sits on metal pegs that is not pictured because it was still drying. I am going to turn it into one large "negative" domino (black body with white dots). I sanded her down and painted the ol' girl black. I bought 350+ dominoes (a bit pricier than I imagined) and some construction adhesive and went to town.

Here are the main players... newly sexified black table and jumbo bowl of tiles.

That bowl is about 18 inches across to give you an idea of how many dominoes I used.

Here is a collage of the progress.

Finito

Isn't she lovely?

I am very pleased with how it turned out. I bought two different types of dominoes which turned out to be two different thicknesses, but the effect is still pretty rychus. I am pretty sure this is one of the cooler pieces of furniture we'll ever own. Michelle could only help with cleanup because the adhesive put off some wicked fumes... we figure the baby will be crazy enough as is since she is from my loins, no need to make it worse with noxious fumes. My brain seems to be functioning normally despite the fumes, but I did have some insane dreams last night. Other upcoming projects include poster-sized collage of our favorite places in Logan, homemade t-shirts, LED cubes, and anything else that tickles my fancy. If anyone has any other cool ideas you think we'd enjoy let me know. On another note, we're still waiting for Michelle to go into labor...I guess baby is having too good a time in her warm/wet environment. Sorry to disappoint all those who've been wondering. We're trying everything to get her to come out and play...I even bribed her with an easy bake oven...still no contractions. I'll keep you posted (blog pun intended).

Look mommy, a beached whale!!

Oh wait, it's just pregnant Michelle! :P

This is Trey's favorite prego lady pic of me so far. It puts to words exactly how I feel, HUGE! So many people I've talked to the past few days have said "oh your belly is so tiny for being 39 weeks along!" And I'm like "REALLY?? Do you not see this large protuberance coming from my abdomen?" I think it's funny that they use the word "tiny" to describe it, because it is anything but tiny!

I just noticed my ticker thinger shows only 4 more days to my due date! Holy guacamole! I do have a strange feeling this little girl is getting way too comfortable in my womb. But seriously, how comfortable can it be in there right now?? I'm sure she is beyond squished, poor thing. It's been funny watching her move in my belly because I can literally see the shape of a foot and a hand poke out sometimes! It makes me laugh.

Well our hospital bag is all packed and we're ready to go when baby decides she wants to come out...I think. :) So many emotions these days, one day I'm super pumped and totally ready to have her, and the next I'm freaking out because I have no idea how to be a mom! I'm sure it all just comes over time. I'm just getting so anxious!! So...does anyone want to go run the steps of Old Main with me? I'm sure it would be quite entertaining to watch.
