We have hobbit ovens so we decided to do something fun this year and make Cornish game hens so each person would have their own. Here are the little hens prepped and all ready to be cooked...
And here is the finished product...they were amazing! Compliments to the chef (Trey). Here is one of the items I was in charge of making. They didn't rise very well but they still tasted pretty good. Mandy's recipe is the bomb!
Miss Bev's yummy sweet potato casserole, made by Trey. It was like eating candy.
Green Bean Almondine, what a tasty dish this was! Green beans, bacon, mushrooms, slivered almonds, shallots, and parm...mmm...
We just whipped up some boxed stuffing, nothing spesh but still good.
And don't forget the mashed potates!
We also had yummy blood orange bubbly and sparkling grape juice. For dessert my parents brought a pumpkin pie and the most delicious cheesecake I have ever eaten. It tasted like creme brulee!
It was kinda fun having a smaller Thanksgiving than I'm used to. It was nice to have some family to share it with.
We did a little bit of Black Friday shopping, but we weren't the crazies that got up at 2am. We went in the afternoon. It wasn't too bad. Target was still bumping. Trey got himself a saw from Lowes for Christmas and we also found this bad boy for $35!
So I've always had a real Christmas tree and I've always been anti-fake tree. Because of our situation, we thought it would be a good idea to invest in a tree that we could use at least the next 3 years if not more. We weren't expecting anything great because it was so cheap but it is a sweet tree! We love it. And it's really nice not having to vacuum up pine needles and remember to feed it. The only thing I miss is the smell. Nothing a little Christmas tree air freshener can't fix. :)
It ended up being a really fun and relaxing weekend. Thanks Mom & Dad for coming!
