The big one!

I am now 27 years old. This is the big one for me. During my teenage years I always thought that I wouldn't start feeling old until I turned 27 and now that I'm here I can say that it's true! I don't know what it is about that number but it seems like such a leap from 26 to 27. It's also pretty weird to think that I'm coming up on my 10 year high school reunion! What the what?!
Thinking about the past year compared to the year before, it's been pretty mellow, which is just fine by me. I think I needed a year to recuperate from all the big changes that occurred in 2009.
Here are some highlights of the past year:

-Bought a sewing machine started sewing! I love it, I can't wait to learn how make a quilt and maybe try sewing some basic clothes like skirts for me & Luce.

-Laughed at the people in PA freaking out over the "snowstorm of the century!!" They were not prepared for that much snow. It was just like another winter in Utah for us, no big deal.

-Robin visited over Valentines Day. She always spoils us and cooks us the most delicious meals. We LOVE visitors...hint hint! :)

-Experienced the Niehoff Egg Hunt. I found 5 bucks in an egg and our friend Emily found the golden egg containing a 100 dolla bill! Luce had a blast.

-Called to be an Assistant Den Leader for Cub Scouts. We meet once a week and help the boys pass off things in their books so they can earn beads and arrow points and eventually their arrow of light. I sure hope we have at least one boy so I can apply all this scout stuff I'm learning about. The boys are really energetic and make me laugh. We have a good time.

-Survived Trey's first year of med school! Huzzah! This year has been so much easier because I know what to expect.

-Attempted our first PA camping trip. We learned our lesson, don't go camping when the low is 70 degrees and the humidity is like 120%. It's so different than camping in the mountains. We'll have to do some spring camping this year.

-Took a very spontaneous trip to Palmyra, NY. One of the many reasons I love my huzbee because I would never think to do something like that so last minute. I'm really glad we went.

-Threw a party for Lucy's first bday! We had a great turn out!

-The Utah trip was awesome! I forgot how big those beautiful mountains are! And it was so lovely seeing fam and friends again. It was fun sharing Lucy with everyone. Luce had a blast getting to know her cousins.

-The parentals got called on a mission to Pittsburgh, PA! It's been so great having them only 2 hours away so Lucy can get to know them. I loved having them over for Thanksgiving & Christmas. It was nice not traveling to see family because they came to us.

-Moved to a bigger apartment! I can't even tell you how much I love our new place and all the space! It is heaven sent. Now I don't feel like we're being consumed by our clutter.

-Started painting again. This may sound weird but it is relaxing for it, almost therapeutic.

-Joined a babysitting co-op.

-Went on some other fun outings: Lake Tobias, Baltimore Zoo, Mt. Gretna, Philly, DC

-Experienced our first Halloween parade...it was weird but fun because we were with the Hulls & Hess fam.

-The Mylers drove down from Buffalo & Robin flew out for a quick visit

-Hosted our first Thanksgiving

-Lucy started Nursery and loves it!

-Went bonkers with Christmas crafts. It was so fun participating in my first ornament swap. I {heart} felt.

I think my favorite part of the past year has been watching Lu girl change from a baby to a toddler. She just gets sillier and sillier, I love it! Each of her stages has been so fun! Some I've enjoyed more than others but I am loving the stage she is at right now (except for the tantrums of course). She's learning her letters and numbers and says so many words! She really is just like a little sponge. You never know what she's going to say or do next. I am amazed at how fast she picks up on things. I love being her mom. I feel like Lucy has taught me a lot this past year.

Don't remember much about 27 except we lived in Colorado Springs and had two kids. Glad you wrote the highlights of the old year. I have enjoyed doing that for quite a few years now.

Yep - you're officially an OLD GEAZER!! 27 is SOOOO old, I just don't know if you'll be able to make it!

I'm glad your "Medical School Years" are getting easier...or at least your ability to survive them has increased! :)

We're planning on coming out in the Spring (May-ish) sometime to make a double visit to your parents and YOU GUYS...and Hershey Park, of course! ;) I know no one ever believes us since we're flying standby, but that's our intention. Hoping for better luck into PA than we have into HI.
